In Awe of the Angry Samoans

I think the Angry Samoans show was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The energy in here was palpable. They packed our house just about full. Their set included a half-time show that featured a dance contest set to the song "Tequila" by The Champs (aka. the Pee Wee Herman song). These guys have obviously been around, and they're totally cool. They let audience members up on stage to sing and dance with them. Plus, their merch is the coolest shit I've ever seen. They got a random selection of clothing from the thrift store and screenprinted their logo over it. I scored a black mini skirt.
The Maxies from Greenland also scored a huge hit with the crowd, not only with the music but with the mass amounts of silly string they blasted on the stage and into the audience. The guy standing next to me got his mohawk all caught up with pink silly string - it was a picture perfect moment.
The coolest part of this whole show was the chemistry of the crowd. It was young punks partying with their parents. This isn't like the last generation when parents didn't understand their kids' rock n' roll. Now music is something to be passed down.
Tune in shortly, and I'll throw some pics up here from the show.
Rocking The Vault this past Saturday were Christian metalheads All or Nothing and We Set Fire - also a great turnout. These guys all really belt it out from the heart.
Coming up this Friday is Attila, Within the Ruins, We Are the End and Dark Haven. $10 in advance, $12 at the door, 7 p.m. We are one of Attila's last stops before trekking overseas for a European tour! Check out these "Atlanta party metal" boys before it's too late. For a little taste, click here.
I've got to say... I hadn't heard of Within the Ruins before we booked this show, but any band that claims to play "Progressive-Melodic-Death-Metal-Beer-Core" is tops in my book. They've got some killer material that lives up to the slogan, and you can check it out on their MySpace.
See you there. Cheers.
