Just read in the paper yesterday that the government approved the merger of Ticketmaster and Live Nation. Oh, the times they are a changin'... I found this LA Times blog that breaks it down nice and easy to see how your concertgoing experience will be affected:

I think the Angry Samoans show was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The energy in here was palpable. They packed our house just about full. Their set included a half-time show that featured a dance contest set to the song "Tequila" by The Champs (aka. the Pee Wee Herman song). These guys have obviously been around, and they're totally cool. They let audience members up on stage to sing and dance with them. Plus, their merch is the coolest shit I've ever seen. They got a random selection of clothing from the thrift store and screenprinted their logo over it. I scored a black mini skirt.
The Maxies from Greenland also scored a huge hit with the crowd, not only with the music but with the mass amounts of silly string they blasted on the stage and into the audience. The guy standing next to me got his mohawk all caught up with pink silly string - it was a picture perfect moment.
The coolest part of this whole show was the chemistry of the crowd. It was young punks partying with their parents. This isn't like the last generation when parents didn't understand their kids' rock n' roll. Now music is something to be passed down.
Tune in shortly, and I'll throw some pics up here from the show.
Rocking The Vault this past Saturday were Christian metalheads All or Nothing and We Set Fire - also a great turnout. These guys all really belt it out from the heart.
Coming up this Friday is Attila, Within the Ruins, We Are the End and Dark Haven. $10 in advance, $12 at the door, 7 p.m. We are one of Attila's last stops before trekking overseas for a European tour! Check out these "Atlanta party metal" boys before it's too late. For a little taste, click here.
I've got to say... I hadn't heard of Within the Ruins before we booked this show, but any band that claims to play "Progressive-Melodic-Death-Metal-Beer-Core" is tops in my book. They've got some killer material that lives up to the slogan, and you can check it out on their MySpace.

See you there. Cheers.

Friday, Jan. 15 : Club Static - created by Chapparal High School students for high school students! A FREE...yes, I said FREE... teen dance club with DJ's spinning club, hip-hop, house and electro, hip-hop open mic, and live dance crew performance. You could just end up with your photo on this little blog, too, so look sharp.
Cheers! Have a good week, and see you there.
p.s. Check out The Vault Video Bar on the right of the screen for a taste of Angry Samoans and The Maxies, playing here Friday, Jan. 22! Visit our MySpace for ticket info and act now! This one's gonna be big.
Hey there, scene kids...
Thanks to those who made it out to see Seven Ages and The Requested last Friday night. If you missed it, we'll forgive you this time. But I can only give out one warning, so if I don't see you at Club Static this Friday night or if you don't get yourself over here to see the legendary Angry Samoans on the 22nd, I'm afraid there's going to be a pretty severe penalty. It involves shaving cream and dental floss.
Anyway, I figured I better whet your appetite for rock by giving you a little recap of last week's show.
Technically speaking, the headliner for this show was Texas screamo-kids Scarlett O'Hara, but their tour bus decided to die on them somewhere in the vast in-between.
Luckily, their buddies The Requested - also a Christian screamo group from McAllen, Texas - made it to Cali a few days before the show to soak up some time in L.A. Lead singer Cody Pena said this is the farthest they've ever made it out of Texas and are heading to Fresno and Las Vegas before making the trip home.
I also asked him where the name came from, thinking it was something really profound, and he said they were surfing the web back when they first got together and the site they were trying to load said, "The Requested Page Can Not Be Found." Thus, The Requested.
And they were awesome. Nobody knew who these guys were since they're still on their rise to fame, but they made a name for themselves, playing tunes like "Optimus Prime Needs a Serious Shave" and "Iron Side of Mars." I had to pick up one of their CDs for $5. Check out their MySpace if you missed it.

Finishing up the show were local heroes Seven Ages. These guys blew me away, not only by the music, but by the fact that they play barefoot. I was wondering what was up when they walked in to play a show wearing flip-flops. Just call them the hardcore hobbits. No doubt you'll see these guys here again.

Opening up were Latch Key, Stop the Phoenix and Starful Ashley. The energy during this whole show was phenomenal. It's not every concert that each band inspires their own circle pit. Needless to say, if you were there, you know. And if you weren't, you missed another good one. Don't get yourself in a downright messy situation with me by missing the next one.
Cheers,
Your loyal Vault girl
Do you have a nightlife?
If you're in the Temecula area, you probably haven't been up to much. Sure, there are some killer local bands floating around, but there's never been a place for them to congregate, much less a space for the national acts you've been driving to L.A. or San Diego to see.
That's why we here at The Vault have the privilege of building the local rock scene from the ground up. And since our opening just five short months ago in July 2009, people have been showing up in droves. So, thanks to you and yours for making this house a home. Let's make 2010 outrageous.
Cheers,

The Vault
